Thieves steal pot plant with miscarried baby buried in it

The family is heartbroken that the baby they never got to meet is gone forever.

At first glance, it just looks like an ordinary pot plant anyone might have on their porch. But for the Tamati family, it was a special memorial for their lost child and grandchild.

Lara Tamati, from Queensland, returned home from work to find the pot with a small rose bush planted in it gone. She has begged the thieves to return it.

“They don’t know the meaning, they didn’t know what was in the pot, but to us it feels like a piece of us has been taken,” Ms Tamati told Nine .

“My greatest fear is they have taken the rose out and tipped the dirt out to use the pot,” she said.

Ms Tamati's daughter Shae miscarried the baby boy when she was 11 weeks pregnant. It was her fourth miscarriage.

The family commemorated the tragic loss by naming the baby and placing his remains under the rose bush.

“So we took our grandson home. My husband, Shae’s father, christened our grandson and he was given the name Vincent Ryan,” she said.

“We put him into the pot and laid the rose on top, and that’s where he lays.”

We want him home

“All I want is for the person who has taken to it to return it,” Ms Tamati said. “We just want him home.”

“Our daughter and son-in-law lost their beautiful rainbow baby, which was too young to be clinically buried,” she said.

“So we buried him underneath this rose in his pot, where he has sat for over a year getting the afternoon sun and watching the world go by. But the afternoon someone decided to come into our yard and take him.”

Ms Tamati shared a photo of the pot to her Facebook page and her story went viral.

“I hope you find out who did this or they see this & return this precious spirit back to you if they have any respect or heart,” one person commented.
