Let your kids fail. To learn self-sufficiency, kids need to occasionally dust themselves off (literally and figuratively) without your help. "Most parents know what their children are capable of but step in to make things easier for them," says Sheri Noga, the author of Have the Guts to Do It Right: Raising Grateful and Responsible Children in an Era of Indulgence. Remember: Long-term benefits—a teenager who knows how to do her own laundry, for example—trump momentary discomfort. Before you rush in to help with any physical task, ask yourself: "Is my child in real danger?" Then—and this applies to other challenges, like the social studies poster due tomorrow—think about whether your child has the necessary skills (dexterity and balance) or simply adequate sleep and a snack. Yes? Time to back off and see what happens.
Jessica Simpson's pregnancy has been filled with aches and pains and it doesn't look like it's getting any better.
The mom of two shared that she had been hospitalized for a week while battling bronchitis. It was her fourth hospital visit in two months.
The singer posted a selfie to social media Sunday, which showed her wearing a mask over her nose and mouth.
"Coughing with Birdie has been a crazy painful journey. I am slowly getting healthier every day. Baby girl was monitored and is doing amazing!" the 38-year-old mom wrote referring to her unborn daughter. "I am on my way to healthy and counting down the days to see her sweet smile. Sending love and prayers to all the mothers who are going or have gone through this."
After a week in the hospital for bronchitis (my fourth time in 2 months), I’m finally home! Coughing with Birdie has been a crazy painful journey. I am slowly getting healthier every day. Simpson has been open about her pregnancy woes. Earlier last month, the mom revealed that she was suffering from sciatica and bronchitis.
"After a month of sciatica pain, followed by 3 weeks of Bronchitis, I figured since my feet fit in my sneaks today I needed to walk out a lot of anxiety!!" Simpson wrote in a social media post.
Sciatica refers to back pain caused when the sciatic nerve is pinched and is a common (and painful) pregnancy symptom.
Listen to the doc. If your pediatrician thinks your kid's fever is caused by a virus, don't push for antibiotics. The best medicine may be rest, lots of fluids, and a little TLC. Overprescribing antibiotics can cause medical problems for your child and increase the chances of creating superbugs that resist treatment.
The actress gave us a look at her swollen pregnancy feet in January when she participated in the #10YearChallenge which showed off a side by side photo of her feet.
