Ready for it! Pregnant Christy Carlson Romano is “fully prepared” for her daughters to develop a sibling rivalry since she spent three years filming family sitcom Even Stevens .
“I know a thing or two about sibling rivalry so I think because of that experience … I‘ve been a little scarred,” the Disney Channel alum, 34, told Us Weekly exclusively. “Now I want to … be fully prepared for that.”
The Cadet Kelly star and her husband, Brendan Rooney , are expecting their second baby girl at the end of February. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, welcomed their first, Isabella, in 2016.
Is the little one ready to be a big sister? “My husband and I have been trying to prep her for this big life change that’s about to happen,” Romano said. “I’ve told her that her little sister, whose name is Sophia, … [is] like a little frog jumping around and swimming around in my belly. So I’ve been trying to get her to feel the baby, and she’s been kind of jumping her fingers around my stomach. … I think there’s some bonding there.”
The Connecticut native admits that, for now, she’s done growing her family. “Two, I think, is the perfect number for us, but who knows what will happen,” she said. “I cannot say anything definitive in my life because I certainly never would have thought I would have had two kids at 34, but I’m happy that everything worked out this way and that I got married a little bit later.”
She added: “I think your priorities change with every child that you have and you have less and less distractions. That’s the goal is to just keep it simple so that the energy that you have, you can have it spent on your family.”
The Grace’s Turn author, who will appear in the live-action Kim Possible Disney Channel Original Movie on February 15, is excited to be a part of the reboot, especially since it will set such a great example for her daughters.
She said of the movie’s new star, Sadie Stanley , “Kim Possible isn’t about who plays her, it’s about what she represents. And to me … I’m carrying that over to my daughters. I’m very proud of Sadie for carrying that torch, and I think she’s taking it on with class and joy and energy and enthusiasm.”
