A mother's love is all these things and so much more

"A mother’s love is why I step outside my comfort zone constantly, making new friends and doing new experiences in the hope that you will have fun."

A mother’s love is what propels me out of a deep sleep at 3am to soothe your troubled cries.

How much should your baby sleep?

How much should your baby sleep?

A mother’s love is what keeps me doing the same repetitive household task over and over again, day in and day out so that I have a clean and comfortable home for you.

A mother’s love is what drives me to become the best version of myself I can be. To work hard and succeed. To give you everything you deserve.

A mother’s love is what makes me stay calm when you throw yet another public temper tantrum, and I just want to scream and hide.

A mother’s love is why I put up with cracked nipples, backache, sagging breasts, cellulite, stretch marks and everything our bodies go through after giving birth.

Brooke Shields (mom of two girls Rowan and Grier): “Trust me when I tell you I’m on my girls. And every time I am, I know from the outside it looks like I’m an overbearing, controlling parent. But I don’t think we are responsible to anybody but our kids and ourselves.”

"I want only the best for your future"

A mother’s love is what prompts me to ask the big questions, to care more about what is going on in the world. Because I want only the best for your future.

A mother’s love is why I let you sleep on me for hours when sick, just so you are comfortable and feel safe.

A mother’s love is what makes me stress about all the little things. Have you had enough veggies? Are you warm enough? Are you tired? Your well-being is now my number one priority.

A mother’s love is why I think up endless games and silly songs, just so I can hear you laugh and enjoy yourself.

A mother’s love is why I step outside my comfort zone constantly, making new friends and doing new experiences in the hope that you will have fun.

"Your number one cheerleader"

A mother's love is what makes me fiercely protective, your biggest fan and your number one cheerleader. I see above anyone what an amazing little human you are.

A mother’s love is all consuming. It is the best feeling in the world holding you in my arms. By becoming a mother I have become compassionate, fierce, kind, tired and wise.

Don't pay your kids to clean their rooms. "If you give them a buck to make their beds, then when you ask them to help you carry in the groceries, they'll say, 'How much? Why would I do that for free when you pay me to make my bed?'" says author and parenting expert Alyson Schafer. You can give your child an allowance as an introduction to money management and possibly for overall good behavior. But don't tie it dollar-for-dollar to everyday chores.

But most of all, since becoming a mother, I have become full of love. For you, for your dad, and for this incredible family and life that we share.
